Help with Existing Businesses
Being successful in business is a puzzle that can take many pieces to achieve. There are pieces common to all businesses, some unique to food and beverage businesses, and still others unique to being successful in coffee.
All businesses need to operate with a plan, sell their products or services at a profit and hire the right people. But being successful in retail food service requires more then understanding what it takes to make a sale, but what gets people to come back - every day! It's a combination of consistency, quality, service, atmosphere, cleanliness, pricing, training, systems, controls, leadership, culture and more.
At OnTrack Coffee Consulting we train others because we have been, and are currently, successful at doing exactly what we teach others to do. We started our operations in 1993 and have gone through all the stages common to business ownership: start-up, additional locations, new concepts, remodeling existing locations, franchising, business failure, establishing all store controls and systems, bringing a store from unprofitable to profitability, owner-operated store transitioned to manager-operated store and more.
Struggling businesses may need help in one or more of the following areas:
- Financial controls: store sales, cost of goods, labor, and all other expense categories for issues.
- Administrative controls: inventory control, cost calculation procedures, sales & labor projections, etc.
- Staffing: service quality; policy, management, employees, etc.
- Product: selection, recipes, preparation techniques, cost, appearance, appeal, menu selections and pricing, etc.
- Physical location: viability, appearance, cleanliness, layout, flow, organization, etc.
- Marketing: evaluation of past/present marketing efforts; what was done, when, how much, what were the results?
Even the best owner or manager can become "store blind" over time. Having a "fresh set" of experienced eyes to look at your business, objectively, can be invaluable. We can look at your operation not only as a first time customer might, but I'll tell you what is attracting customers, and what might be potentially repelling them as well.
